FORTHCOMING EVENTS

Capriol Chamber Choir (formerly the Warlock Singers)
Directed by Graham Dinnage
Chiddingstone Castle, Kent
Sunday 8 June 3.30 and 6p.m. with supper at 7.30 p.m.
Advance booking only

Early booking is recommended for Capriol’s summer concerts with supper at the newly refurbished Chiddingstone Castle in Kent on Sunday 8 June. Tickets are selling quickly, so we are now giving two performances of the same programme, one at 3.30 and one at 6 p.m. with a gourmet supper at 7.30 p.m. served in the marquee and courtyards. See below for the buffet menu.

The programme is a summery mix of music featuring Castles, Kings and Queens, some with local connections – a first performance Matthew King’s Adlestrop, a Kentish composer’s setting of the Kentish poet, Edward Thomas, commissioned by the choir, as well as music by Warlock, Delius, Ireland, Holst and Grainger, Royal Garland by Mathias and a selection of madrigals in praise of Oriana.

The later concert is almost sold out (unless you book soon), but there is plenty to see and do between the early concert and the supper – tea and home-made cakes, lakeside and country walks, castle tours, drinks in the castle courtyards, or visit the other local sights – the Chiding Stone (The Chiding, or Judgement Stone, is a natural rostrum, which may well have been used in past times as a place of delivering judgement), the church, the historic village houses and the local pub, the Castle Inn.

We will accept email/telephone reservations in advance of payment.
